Event Roles and Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone that can help facilitate the operations of events booked throughout the year. You would:
  • Represent Lake of the Woods Brewing Company in a professional manner as a brand ambassador
  • Interact with individuals to develop and maintain a favourable public image. Provide detailed information and educate people about Lake of the Woods Brewing Company, our brews, merchandise, and other awesome products.
  • Promote upcoming events and/or upcoming Taproom events and specials
  • Assist with the set-up and take-down of each event
  • Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process
Bartending and Taproom Responsibilities:
To supplement employed hours when events are not taking place, you would work at our tap room downtown as well. This would include:
  • Provide detailed information of menu items, suggest daily specials and give beer knowledge
  • Interact and create a friendly and inviting atmosphere in the tap room.
  • Serve drinks, take orders and repeat orders to ensure accuracy
  • Maintain a precedented level of cleanliness throughout the tap room by keeping tables, the bar top, retail space and general areas all clean and organized
  • Provide customers with their checks and take payments. Must have ability to use a POS system for retail sales and returns
  • Attempt to up-sell retail and additional (where allowed and responsibly) beverage items.
  • Re-stock beer fridge and clothing throughout shift
  • Fill out paperwork for keg rentals and returns
  • Re-Fill growlers and Crowlers for customers and keep station sanitized
  • Execute opening/closing duties when required
  • Contribute to the overall team effort by accomplishing tasks as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years or older and Smart Choices certified
  • Previous experience in retail, serving, or selling craft beer would be considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills — Charismatic, positive and outgoing personality
  • Ability to accomplish assigned projects with little supervision, stay on task and stay organized
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and ability to exceed in a fast-paced environment as well as maintain sense of urgency and keep momentum going

WHAT TO EXPECT:

The primary focus of this position is managing the day-to-day operations of the brewery taproom and providing support to the retail store. This position is fast-paced, extremely engaging, and very social in nature. The successful candidate should be outgoing, have strong leadership and organizational skills to efficiently lead a growing team.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:

  • Must love craft beer! With the knowledge and passion to discuss our beers with guests.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and build relationships with customers and corporate clients.
  • Weekly scheduling of staff; creating and managing weekly task(s) list for employees.
  • Interfacing with logistics for ordering store supplies.
  • Responsible body on-site, flexibility of work hours.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with staff.
  • Supervise the daily operations of Taproom and provide support to the retail store.
  • Staff education exercises (beer tasting, brewery visit, programming).
  • Daily Cash Out reports – provided to Finance Controller.
  • Execute staff training procedures, assist in hiring for location, and incentivize staff for a fun, dynamic work environment.
  • Site cleanliness and enforcement of health and safety.
  • Inventory Management and reconciliation – daily reports.
  • Assist the Marketing department with social media.
  • Assist Event and Community Development manager with events and initiatives.
  • Assist Food and Beverage Manager with food special.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE JOB:

  • Minimum of 2 years Managerial and/or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years restaurant serving or bartending experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment would be considered an asset.
  • Passion for all things craft beer – previous industry experience would be considered an asset (ie. Beer Advocate/Liquor Rep).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly (GiveX, Quickbooks, Ekos)
  • High energy individual with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Smart Serve Certified.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:

  • Food expeditors communicate orders and information between the front of house and back of house.
  • Making sure that food is cooked in the right order, quickly, and presented to the customer as beautifully as possible.
  • Make sure the orders are being cooked in a timely fashion, so that all orders for a table are ready at the same time, and make sure that once the food is cooked servers run food to the table while it’s warm and ready. 
  • Explain special orders to the cooks and tell servers when the kitchen is out of a menu item.
  • Expeditors are also in charge of the final presentation of the plate, making sure it is dressed and garnished correctly and free from smudges or spills. 
  • Responsible for basic garnish prep and stock.

Assistant Brewer/Brewer Responsibilities:

Reports to: Head MN Brewer

  • Operates and maintains racking, growler and canning equipment and generating appropriate reports
  • Tracks and compiles both ingredient and product inventory
  • Build orders, receive shipments, generating associated S&R paperwork and coordinating with the appropriate departments
  • Organize and maintain warehouse, cold room and cellar
  • Assist in general production cleaning duties
  • Operates and maintains filter equipment and performs process transfer tasks
  • Performs, records, acts on cellar process measurements of product parameters, maintaining and conducting tasks in the cellar
  • Records utility parameter logs
  • Performs Krausening tasks
  • Assists in Quality Management Program and generating appropriate reports
  • Operates and maintains Brewhouse equipment and generating appropriate reports
  • Operates and maintains mill, boiler, air compressor, air dryer and CO2 equipment
  • Perform general repair and maintenance
  • Research, development and laboratory tasks

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Preference for training or experience in brewing industry, food & beverage or manufacturing industry
  • Training as a Certified Brewer or Master Brewers Diploma, as well as associated industry certifications
  • Proficiency or education in mathematics, chemistry and microbiology
  • Proficiency or training in utility mechanics, electronics and small motor repair
  • Required to lift up to 140lbs (65kg)

  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of beer brands
  • Operate and control point of sale system to process customer orders and conduct payments
  • Performing takeout orders through the Feastify portal and phone-in orders, provide detailed information of menu items and daily features, while delivering food items to guests in a professional and timely manner, while ensuring the food quality and presentation is up to the mark
  • Provide general tourist information to guests
  • Understand and execute promotional activities happening in the department
  • Maintain the Beer & Gear store clean, merchandized, organized and inviting to customers.
  • Accurately track inventory to monitor stocks and ensure shelves are full 
  • Work individually or in a team environment and be open to performing other duties as assigned 
  • Ensure the fridge is stocked with beer 
  • Fill growlers and crowlers for customers and keep beer fill station clean and sanitized 
  • Process keg rentals and returns 
  • Medium to heavy lifting
