WE KRAUSEN OUR BEER
Our brewing process is pretty old-school...
Kräusening is a traditional, old-world method of conditioning and carbonating beer – the stuff of legends for other brewers. It also cleans up any unwanted by-products (which can be found in most other “commercial” beers) from the primary fermentation stage. THIS PROCESS MAKES REALLY GOOD, ALL-NATURAL BEER. Google it.
WE USE FRESH, LAKE OF THE WOODS WATER
Our lake water is awesome for making beer
Brewing beer on the shores of Lake of the Woods was no accident. Lake of the Woods water is perfect for brewing beer, and since beer is over 90% water, it’s a pretty darn important ingredient. The low mineral content and softness of Lake of the Woods water is one of the things that makes our beer stand out in a crowd of many. In 2018, the City of Kenora celebrated top honours in two categories at the Northwestern Ontario Water Quality Conference in Thunder Bay. Kenora’s drinking water won first place in a blind taste test by a panel of water quality experts.

DEEP SIX
AGED UNDER ICE SERIES
This beer spends six months at the bottom of Lake of the Woods
This limited release Irish Coffee Cream Ale will be aged 20 feet under the ice, at 4 degrees Celsius for 6 months. Each bottle is hand numbered and is packaged in it’s own custom printed container. Only 1000 bottles brewed for Spring 2024.

That's right! This beer is aging in icy-darkness at the bottom of Lake of the Woods.

6 MONTHS DOWN BELOW. SMOOTH & COOL.
Aging this beer only makes it better... so keep a few in your cellar for a special occasion in 2023.. or 2024.
Every fall prior to lake freeze-up, LOWBrewCo ’deep sixes’ hundreds of bottles of small batch, handcrafted beer to the bottom of Lake of the Woods. Placed below the ice line and secured in anchored cages, the beer receives the benefit of (at a minimum six month) bottle aging in near freezing – three degrees Celsius – watery lake current. This results in really cool beer.
