CZECH-STYLE PILSNER

ABV 5% | IBU 40 | SRM 4

The original recipe for our Czech Style Pilsner was developed at our flagship brewery in Kenora ON in 2010 and instantly became a regional favourite. First released under the moniker “Papermaker” our OG Pilsner is back under a new name…“Lake of the Woods Original Pils”. This beer is masterfully brewed using old-world techniques (it’s Kräusened… Google it!) originating in the Bohemian city of Pilsen back in 1842, where the world’s first pale lager was produced. Lake of the Woods Brewing Company’s Original Pils has a rich, complex caramel maltiness with a pronounced yet well rounded bitterness. A classic spiciness from the Saaz Hops is present, but does not linger. Our first beer… now a classic.

FROM PAPERMAKER TO CLASSIC: THE STORY BEHIND LAKE OF THE WOODS ORIGINAL PILS.

Our first beer...now a classic.

In 2010, a small brewery in Kenora, ON, set out on a mission to craft a Czech-style Pilsner that would capture the hearts of beer enthusiasts across the region. Little did they know, they were about to create a legend. Originally known as “Papermaker,” this Pilsner quickly gained a loyal following, earning its stripes as a regional favorite. Now, after a decade of brewing mastery, it returns with a new name: “Lake of the Woods Original Pils.” Now available at participating beer stores and rural liquor vendors in Manitoba. You can also grab it on tap at our breweries in Kenora and Winnipeg.
