Taproom Server

Job Summary

As a Server you are an important member of the team. It is the job of the taproom server to provide excellent and knowledgeable service to customers during their dining experience. It is essential that you are polite and courteous when you welcome patrons into the restaurant and during service. Must be able to answer any questions from customers.
The taproom server works closely with the kitchen team, retail store and brewery to provide quality service to every customer.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • To provide quality service to the patrons of the taproom
  • To be aware and knowledgeable about The Lake of the Woods Brewery Beer Products
  • Explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking
  • Take food and beverage orders from our guests
  • Ensure superb customer service with a friendly and fun atmosphere
  • Deliver food and drinks and ensure customers are pleased with their choices
  • Ability to handle cash, debit and credit card transactions efficiently
  • Ability to deal with fluctuating business levels with a calm and cool demeanor
  • Maintain restaurant cleanliness throughout your shift
  • Restock supplies, dust, clean, sweep, and mop floors as required
  • Work closely with other team members to ensure excellent service is provided to all customers.
  • Take directions and guidance from managers.
  • Check customers’ identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages.
  • Prepare checks and reports using the Micros Point of Sales system
  • Opening and closing the restaurant as required

 

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 yrs of age or older
  • Must have High School Diploma
  • Knowledge of POS systems an asset
  • Must be reliable and dependable
  • Smart Serve Certificate a must
  • Previous restaurant experience is an asset
  • Previous customer service experience is an asset
  • Responsible, reliable, outgoing and friendly

Cook 

Reports to: Kitchen Manager

Who We Are:
We are a locally owned and operated company in Kenora, Ontario on the northern shores of the Lake of the Woods. We brew interesting, tasty beers using all natural ingredients like hops & malts and local fresh water. We have names, not titles and we would like you to join our team!

Summary of Position:

Accurately and efficiently cook meats, fish, vegetables, and other hot and cold food products. To efficiently prepare and portion food products prior to cooking. To be able to work well in a team environment. To execute the cooking of the dishes to the requirements of the company and perform all duties that are required to maintain the efficiency and cleanliness of the kitchen.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepares a variety of meats, fish, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.
  • Assumes 100% responsibility for quality of products served.
  • Knows and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.
  • Stocks and maintains sufficient levels of food products at line stations to assure a smooth service period.
  • Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, grills, broilers, fryers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Prepares item for broiling, grilling, frying, sautéing or other cooking methods by portioning, battering, breading, seasoning and/or marinating.
  • Follows proper plate presentation and garnish set up for all dishes.
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as needed.
  • Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations. Assists others in closing the kitchen.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings and brings suggestions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or manager-on-duty.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in kitchen preparation and cooking an asset
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to follow printed recipes and plate specifications
  • Must maintain personal hygiene in accordance to Health Department standards for Food Service Employees.
