WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS:

Flexible hours and weekend availability needed. Starting wage is $23.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. Duties listed below are the minimum requirements, other tasks may be asked of you.

The primary focus of this position is managing the day-to-day operations of the brewery taproom and providing support to the retail store. This position is fast-paced, extremely engaging, and very social in nature. The successful candidate should be outgoing, have strong leadership and organizational skills to efficiently lead a growing team.

Taproom Manager Responsibilities:

Reports to: President/CEO

  • Must love craft beer! With the knowledge and passion to discuss our beers with guests.
  • Act as a brand ambassador and build relationships with customers and corporate clients.
  • Weekly scheduling of staff; creating and managing weekly task(s) list for employees.
  • Interfacing with logistics for ordering store supplies.
  • Responsible body on-site, flexibility of work hours.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with staff.
  • Supervise the daily operations of Taproom and provide support to the retail store.
  • Staff education exercises (beer tasting, brewery visit, programming).
  • Daily Cash Out reports – provided to Finance Controller.
  • Execute staff training procedures, assist in hiring for location, and incentivize staff for a fun, dynamic work environment.
  • Site cleanliness and enforcement of health and safety.
  • Inventory Management and reconciliation – daily reports.
  • Assist the Marketing department with social media.
  • Assist Event and Community Development manager with events and initiatives.
  • Assist Food and Beverage Manager with food special.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years Managerial and/or supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years restaurant serving or bartending experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a retail environment would be considered an asset.
  • Passion for all things craft beer – previous industry experience would be considered an asset (ie. Beer Advocate/Liquor Rep).
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly (GiveX, Quickbooks, Ekos)
  • High energy individual with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Smart Serve Certified.
  • Ability to work alone independently and in a team environment.

  • Follow a given recipe and quality standard and prepare various food items, including vegetables, poultry, meats, and seafood for cooking using different methods and kitchen equipment such as oven, broilers, fryers, and grills.
  • Stock and manage assigned food station(s) and ensure quality of food served. 
  • Physically inspect and see all food sent from the kitchen and make requisitions for food items and supplies that are needed. 
  • Understand and adhere to company’s policies and processes, cooking methods, standard portion sizes, and kitchen rules, and quality standards. 
  • Ensure food products are portioned before cooking by following standard portion sizes and recipe that have been specified.

  • Keep to proper garnish set up and plate presentation for every dish.

  • Properly store, rotate, and manage all food products following local, state, federal, and company guidelines and procedures.
  • Assist in food prep tasks during off-peak periods when needed. 
  • Ensure proper closure of kitchen by following kitchen stations’ closing checklist; also, help others to close the kitchen

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS: 

The Assistant Brewer/Brewer is a full time permanent position. The Assistant Brewer/Brewer will need flexible hours and weekend availability. Transitioning from Assistant Brewer to Brewer will increase your wage per hour pending on qualifications and course completion. Assistant Brewer/Brewer Responsibilities: 

Reports to: Head Brewer 

  • Operates and maintains racking, growler and canning equipment and generating appropriate reports 
  • Tracks and compiles both ingredient and product inventory 
  • Build orders, receive shipments, generating associated S&R paperwork and coordinating with the appropriate departments
  • Organize and maintain warehouse, cold room and cellar
  • Assist in general production cleaning duties
  • Operates and maintains filter equipment and performs process transfer tasks
  • Performs, records, acts on cellar process measurements of product parameters, maintaining and conducting tasks in the cellar

  • Performs Krausening tasks

KITCHEN MANAGER:

Lake of the Woods is seeking a stand-out human – hardworking, skilled, enthusiastic and motivated craft beer lover to join our energetic team. The Kitchen Manager position is multi-faceted and a key role in our young and dynamic company.

The primary focus of this position is managing the day-to-day operations of the kitchen at our Kenora location. This position is fast-paced, extremely engaging, hands-on and social in nature. The location could not be more unique, being located in an historic firehall in the heart of downtown Kenora. The Kenora location is busy, especially so in summer and is complete with four unique spaces to serve customers, as well as facilitating commercial wholesale beverage manufacturing and a busy retail bottle and gear shop.

The successful candidate must love beer and food! This is a must in order to create and maintain memorable and exciting experiences for LOWBrewCo supporters and enthusiasts; must have organizational skills to efficiency lead a growing BOH and taproom team; strong leadership qualities; and a strong ability to communicate with others.

This role is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Reports to the General Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • You must love craft beer! With the knowledge and passion to discuss our beers with guests and able to pair beer with food dishes;
  • You must be hands on – with a demonstrated ability to cook (including short order), work hot line, prepare foods ongoing and as needed (walk the talk);
  • You will be responsible for weekly scheduling of BOH staff;
  • You will be responsible for hiring, training, supervising, incentivizing and disciplining BOH staff with the goal of maintaining a fun, dynamic work and professional work

ENVIRONMENT:

  • You will be in charge of managing and completing staff payroll info, including approving time cards, payroll changes, new hires, and/or terminations;
  • You will be ordering supplies and food stuffs, managing inventory and reconciliation – ie tracking kitchen waste and daily/weekly/monthly cost reports;
  • You must have flexibility of work hours (varies days/evenings/weekends);
  • Lead bi-weekly meetings with kitchen staff;
  • You will be responsible for maintaining standards for BOH cleanliness and ensuring health and safety of product, people and place.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • You will have a passion for all things Craft Beer;
  • You will have a minimum of three years kitchen experience in the hospitality industry;
  • You will have a minimum of one year supervisory/Managerial experience preferably in a kitchen environment (must be comfortable in a leadership role);
  • You will have a strong understanding of culinary procedures, standards, sanitation and safety guidelines;
  • You will have a basic financial understanding of managing waste, inventory and upkeep of kitchen supplies and equipment;
  • You will have an ability to learn and adapt to new software quickly (ie GiveX, Excel) and a familiarity with POS systems;
  • You ARE a high energy individual with exceptional multi-tasking and organizational skills.

WHAT THE JOB ENTAILS: 

The Packaging Operator is a full time permanent position with hours both on weekdays and weekends, however flexible availability can be accommodated Opportunities for advancement and upward mobility exist in the Production department into other roles including Assistant Brewer and Brewer positions.

Packaging Operator Responsibilities: 

Reports to: Head Brewer  

  • Operates and maintains racking, growler and canning equipment and generating appropriate reports 
  • Tracks and compiles both ingredient and product inventory 
  • Build orders, receive shipments, generating associated S&R paperwork and coordinating with the appropriate departments
  • Organize and maintain warehouse, cold room and cellar 
  • Assist in general production cleaning duties 
  • Operates and maintains filter equipment and performs process transfer tasks 
  • Assistance with, and as training and experience supports, performance of: 
    • Operating and maintains mill, boiler, air compressor, air dryer and CO2 equipment 
    • Performs, records, and acts on cellar process measurements of product parameters, maintaining and conducting tasks in the cellar 
    • Records utility parameter logs 
    • Assists in Quality Management Program and generating appropriate reports 
    • Perform general repair and maintenance 
    • Research, development and laboratory tasks 
    • Participates in product development 
    • Conducts administrative duties 
  • Other duties as required 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Preference for training or experience in brewing industry, food & beverage or manufacturing industry 
  • Required to lift up to 65kg 
  • Perform organizational tasks and problem solving 
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, team work and proactivity

  • Ensure the building looks clean, presentable, and inviting.
  • Sweeping, mopping, dusting, and wiping down glass and other surfaces in the designated areas.
  • Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities.
  • Inform management of any deficiencies or repairs that need attention.
  • Comply with all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
